Abstract

Corporate Governance has been gaining global attention and deliberations from more than past three decades. Almost every nation has developed its own regulatory framework to provide for the concept of corporate governance. Having a corporate governance framework ina country means that it has a body to set and update mechanisms to facilitate good governance and a body to control and ensure the implementation of those mechanisms. Having an effective corporate governance framework is therefore important to steer the companies in the right direction for the nation's welfare. In this paper, an attempt is made to study the corporate governance frameworks in BRICS countries so as to derive lessons for India. It was found that many practices can be learnt from each nation especially from South Africa.
