Implementation of the Provisions of RTE Act-2009 in Primary Schools in Rural Areas of West Bengal

Abstract

In this paper researcher seeks to represent the overall conditions of primary school education and also to compare the infrastructural facilities between Governments aided Primary School (GPS) and Private Primary Schools (PPS) in rural West Bengal, India. In this study researchers adapt descriptive survey with the help of self-made interview schedule and checklist which were based on the guidelines provided in the RTE Act-2009. Findings revealed that, Govt. Primary schools were much better than Private primary schools in respect of infrastructural setup and available human resources. But over all infrastructure of the rural primary school was not fully satisfy the norms and standards mentioned for schools in RTE Act-2009. This paper will significant to create awareness among the parents, school authorities and other stack holders about the existing and lacking in primary schools need to fulfill the right of every children especially in rural West Bengal.
