Intelligence in relation to attitude of social science and science student teachers

Abstract

Education in the 21st century demands not only well qualified teachers, but also intelligent teachers. Teaching is the profession in which students are trained to face and to fight the odds of life. Teachers are able to do this duty only if they are intelligent and committed to their teaching. So this study aimed to know whether intelligence is related to attitude of student teachers, whether there is any significant difference in the intelligence of social science and science student teachers and whether there is any significant difference in the attitude of social science and science student teachers. The main objectives of the research study were to find out the correlation between intelligence and attitude of social science and science student teachers, to find out significant difference between the intelligence of social science and science student teachers and to find out significant difference between the attitude of social science and science student teachers. A sample of 200 student teachers was selected from educational colleges Panjab and Chandigarh. Descriptive analysis like mean, median, S.D. and coefficient of correlation was calculated to find out the correlation between intelligence and attitude of student teachers. To find out significant difference in the intelligence and attitude of social science and science student teachers, t-value was calculated. A significant and positive correlation was found between intelligence and attitude of student teachers. Social science student teachers were found significantly different in their intelligence and attitude from science student teachers.
