Working of emotional intelligence in creating job satisfaction among teaching professionals in Indian high education sector

Abstract

The construct of Emotional Intelligence is of great consequence in education and teaching as it helps the teachers understand their students in an improved way. They can then align their pedagogy to meet the needs and aspirations of the students. The aim of the study is to examine relationship between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction. The current study aimed to explore how individual difference in Emotional Intelligence influence Job Satisfaction. A total of 500 teachers of public and private sector higher education institutions of North India were taken. The collected data were analyzed by using Pearson correlation coefficient and regression with SPSS software. Findings of the study indicated a positive relation between job satisfaction and emotional intelligence and its subscales namely, self awareness, relationship management, and social awareness.
