Villages in Kashmir during 19^th century

The paper attempts to throw light on the villages of Kashmir during 19^th century. The villages of Kashmir possess some peculiar characteristics which distinguish them from rest of the subcontinent. It highlights these features and discusses them to some extent and made an attempt to bring neglected villages of Kashmir into the ambit of history. The overall picture of the villages of Kashmir reflects a different history which is unique in itself but unexplored. This paper will be a least attempt to uncover the bold and important features of villages in Kashmir during 19^th century.
