Abstract

Nuclear capability is the primary focus of international relations in twenty first century. However in order to maximize the impact of having a nuclear arsenal, a state must have comprehensible and reputable doctrines or policies in order to establish credibility and a clear threshold for use. The present paper is aimed at analyzing India's nuclear doctrine committed to a No First Use stance not only guarantees security to India in the anarchic world but also qualifies it to be a responsible nuclear weapon state thereby effectively managing its nuclear arsenal.
