In India, the rate of socio-economic development is commendable, but the benefits of this kind of development were not distributed among the different states or regions, which enlarge the socio-economic disparities among them. Economic and regional disparity denotes regional imbalances or regional dualism or growth differentiation. Economic and regional disparity began its journey long ago. Contributory study on regional disparity was first time done by Harrod-Domor and Solow in their regional growth models. And since then, the economic planners and economists have continued to study various aspects of economic and regional disparity. The paper studies descriptive and substantive findings as well as various theoretical and methodological contributions on economic and regional disparity in context to India and whole world. The study is descriptive and explanatory in nature and is based on secondary data collected from authentic sources. The conclusion has been discussed in the light of published literature.
