Solid waste management in households of Kerala are yet to be streamlined into a cohesive centralised policy with a long term vision. This research article is a comparative study of household solid waste generation and disposal patterns across two districts of Kerala, namely Kozhikode and Malappuram. The study aims to draw out social, economic and regional factors that influence waste generation. Alternative strategies suitable to the State has been outlined based on the study.
