Emotions Recognition through Islamic Headdresses: A Critical Review

The purpose of the present study is to add in literature by critically reviewing the existing literature for the investigation of emotion recognition through Islamic headdress. The present study precisely covers three major areas, which include the ways of identifying emotions through headdresses that cover whole face except the eyes. Literature reveals that researchers use participants with the average ages between 18–20 years and are from Western countries. Further, their studies focus only on four types of emotions; anger, fear, sadness and happiness. A small but growing literature confirms that there is a possibility of identifying emotions of a person covering the face with Islamic headdress. We concluded that Islamic headdresses are the symbol of culture and religious norm and have little influence to reduce the emotions recognition.
