Health Tourism in India

Abstract

A newly emerging concept that is fast catching up in the healthcare industry is that of Health Tourism. Patients, worldwide, go in for medical treatment abroad mainly because of cost advantage they are able to get or due to overburdened and strained health care systems in their country. India's rich heritage has always attracted the people, worldwide, to explore the mysteries of nature of this country. From times immemorial people used to travel to religious places to attain peace of mind. India's beautiful nature soothes the eyes and mind and its health care delivery systems soothes body without any major adverse effect thus attracting thousands of medical tourists every year. India can emerge as a global leader in Health Tourism. Health Tourism is an innovative approach and India by opening its healthcare institutions for International Patients is not only earning huge revenues in foreign currency but also strengthening its International Relations with countries from where patients are coming to India to avail its healthcare services as well as visiting its hot tourist spots on recuperation.
