Abstract

Job satisfaction at work has almost universal significance in the form of better quality of life, greater productivity, and less absenteeism which all matters of considerable economic importance for an organization. The present study was conducted on 210 managerial personnel to examine the role of life events stress and social support in job satisfaction. Results of correlation analysis reveal that job positive (dimension of positive life events stress) was significantly positively correlated with satisfaction (management & total), and person positive (dimension of positive life events stress) was positively correlated with satisfaction (job & total) while social support (person) was significantly positively correlated with satisfaction (job) and social support (satisfaction) was significantly positively correlated with satisfaction (job, management, & total). The results of hierarchical regression analysis show that only positive life events stress (person positive) significantly predicted satisfaction (job & total) and social support (satisfaction) significantly predicted satisfaction (job, management, & total). The findings of this study will help in enhancing the production and effectiveness of organizations and in reducing the disability, absenteeism, job loss and subsequent unemployment of managers so that organizations will succeed in getting their goals.
