Abstract

Naga, as a nation, is incomplete without understanding the structural role of village in the geo-political discourse of the Naga nationalism. The paper's objective is to understand the legacies of Naga identity from the constructed by the erstwhile colonial anthropologists, and then to reconstruct the Naga Nation from domains and context of the Naga village. It also analyses the relationship discourse of the Naga village with other Naga villages, its characteristic features, the relative position in the larger contemporary Naga geo-politics, and the spatial domain of the village geopolitics in relation to the ‘being‘ of the Naga as an organic nation. This paper tries to examine the Naga's village and Naga's nation from a classical path at the same time in dialogue with critical identity.
