The central government and the local governments of India have implemented a number of distinctive programmes aimed at improving the livelihood of scheduled tribes. Hence, the object of this study is to investigate the perceptions beneficiaries residing in the Keralan Western Ghats held, regarding he impact of such programmes over their daily lives. Perceptions were gathered through the administration of a survey to a sample of 200 households in the tribal districts of Wayanad and Idukki. We conclude by pointing to a series of concerns beneficiaries held in relation to the day-today operation of different development plans.
