The occupational distribution of any area is expressed in terms of its working population. The main and marginal categories of workers highlight the workforce distribution. Broadly speaking, to get an insight into the employment scenario of the district it becomes imperative to have a closer look at the share of its workers in the total population. In view of this the present paper seeks to examine the distribution of workers (main and marginal) and their occupational characteristics in the twelve community blocks of Darjeeling district based on census 2011.
