Abstract

A study was carried out to know the personal, socioeconomic and psychological characteristics of dairy farmersin Surat district of south Gujarat. A sample of 120 respondents was selected for the study. The findings of the study revealed that majority of the respondents belonged to middle age group and were educated up to secondary level. More than half of the dairy farmers belonged tonuclear family with small family size. In the study area, majority of the dairy farmers were engaged in agriculture and animal husbandryas mainoccupation and had mediumdairy farming experience. More than half of the respondents were small farmers who belonged to mediumannual income category. Majority of the dairy farmers had mediumlive stock possession, extension participation, scientific orientation and market orientation.
