A mulching experiment was conducted with seven treatments such as black polythene, silver polythene, bicolour polythene, dry grass, wheat straw, leaf litter and control, replicated three times and laid out in Randomized Block Design. Mulching is an essential cultural practice followed in horticultural crops. Mulches are reported to reduce the soil moisture losses, fluctuation in soil temperature, organiccarbon percentage and check the weed growth. The result revealed that tree basins mulch with black polythene sheet of 200 micron achieved better results followed by other mulches and maximum organic carbon content in soil observed indry grass mulch than other mulches.
