Abstract

The present work aims to determine the physicochemical analyses of raw (untreated) and biomethanated (treated) sago effluentscollected from cassava sago industry during on (September to March) andoff (Aprilto August) seasons. Physico-chemical characteristics such as colour, temperature, pH, EC, total dissolved solids, total suspended solids, total solids, biological oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand etc., were determined using the standard method. The effluent samples were compared with the prescribed limit of effluent discharge to land given by WHO, CPCB, ISI and TNPCB. Results of this analyses indicated that the parameters like TS, BOD and COD of sago industry exceeded the permissible limit, suggesting the need for improving the bioremediation efficiency of the sago effluent for safe disposal.
