The experiment was carried out during Kharif-2014, with 17 early maturing pigeonpea genotypes. Results exhibited, higher magnitude of genotypic correlation than the phenotypic correlation for all the traits indicating there was inherent association among the characters. Seed yield/plant was found to be positively associated with most of the characters except pod length and 100 seed weight (Test Weight) at genotypic level indicating that these attributes are predominant and may contribute considerably towards higher seed yield of pigeonpea. The phenotypic correlation coefficient for nine yield traits revelled that, all the traits were positively associated with seed yield/plant except negatively associated 100 seed weight (Test weight) and pod length with negligible magnitude of positive association. path coefficient analysis was carried out to estimate direct and indirect effects of various component traits for recommending the reliable selection criterion. Number of pods per plant found to be major contributing traits towards seed yield as it indicated by high magnitude of direct effect at both Genotypic (0.8152) and phenotypic (1.0627) levels. This characters also contributing through positive indirect effects with most of the traits except pod length and test weight.
