Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to know the impact of micronutrients in organic based nitrogen application in mulberry on chemical and biochemical parameters. The experiment consisted of six micronutrients Viz., Ferrous sulphate (10 kg/ha/year), Manganese sulphate (20 kg/ha/year), Zinc sulphate (20 kg/ha/year), Copper sulphate (1.5 kg/ha/year), Ammonium molybdate (1kg/ha/year) and Borax (2 kg/ha/year). The results revealed, application of Zinc sulphate @ 20 kg/ha/year, recorded significantly higher total soluble protein-12.07%, crude protein-20.24%, total sugars 13.08%, N-3.36, P-1.90% and K-1.45% content of leaf. MnSO4 @ 20 kg/ha/year recorded higher leaf moisture content (75.98%), chlorophyll a (1.47 mg/g), chlorophyll b (0.88 mg/g) and total chlorophyll (2.47 mg/g). Supply of Borax @ 2 kg/ha/year recorded higher moisture retention capacity (97.47%). The results showed the importance of micronutrients in mulberry cultivation to improve quality parameters in addition to major nutrients.
