In vitro Efficacy of Fungicides on Growth of Ganoderma sp. Causing Basal Stem Rot of Coconut

Abstract

Nine systemic, seven non-systemic and five combiproduct fungicides were evaluated against Ganoderma sp., the causal agent of basal stem rot of coconut under laboratory conditions at 250ppm, 500ppm and 1000ppm. Among systemic fungicides tested, 100% inhibition over control was observed in Tebuconazole 25.9% EC, Propiconazole 25% EC, Hexaconazole 5% EC and Kintazine 48% EC at all concentrations tested. Among non-systemic fungicides tested Propineb 70% WP and Mancozeb 75% WP acconuted 100% inhibition over control at all concentrations tested. Copper oxychloride and copper sulphate penta hydroxide recorded 90.74 and 69.12% inhibition over control at 1000ppm. Among combiproduct Hexaconazole 4% EC + Zineb 68% EC (Avathar), Hexaconazole 5%WP + Captan 70% WP (Taqut), Fenmidone 10% + Mancozeb 50%WP (Sectin), Tebuconazole 50% + Trifloxystrobin 25% WG (Nativo) were recorded 100% inhibition at all concentrations tested.
