Abstract

The experiment was conducted at research field of Sorghum Research Unit, Dr. PDKVAkola (M.S), during Rabi season 2013 to study the morphophysiological, biochemical and yield responses of sorghum genotypes. Experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design, replicated three times. In research findings, morphophysiological, biochemical and yield traits were significantly influenced by the genotypes. Genotype (RLRR0809-081-1-1-1) exhibited higher plant height (207.52 cm) followed by Maldandi (205.35 cm) and PKV Kranti (205.30 cm). Leaf area (10.40 dm2 plant−1) and Leaf area index (1.54) were found maximumin genotype PKV Kranti followed by Maldandi (10.32 and 1.52 dm2 plant−1). The genotype (RLR-R0809-127-1-1-1) and (RLR-R0809-1181-3-1) exhibited maximum specific leaf area each with 0.082 cm2 mg−1. Chlorophyll stability index was recorded maximum (0.51%) in genotype RLR-R0809-117-1-2-1 followed by RLR-R0809-115-1-3-1 (0.47%). Genotype PKV Kranti exhibited highest RWC (79.9%) and CCI (20.40%) among all the genotypes. The genotype RLRR0809-079-1-1-2 exhibited higher (20.5 cm) panicle length. In case of test weight PKV Kranti recorded highest test weight (26.6 g) followed by Maldandi (26.2 g). PKV-Kranti recorded highest grain weight (44.8 g plant−1) followed by Maldandi (44.1 g plant−1), RLR-R0809-079-11-2 (43.4 g plant−1) and RLR-R0809-097-1-1-3 (43.2 g plant−1).
