Abstract

A field experiment as carried out during the kharif season of 2014 at Raichur (Karnataka) to study the the influence of of diclosulam 84% WDG on soil microflora and seed yield in greengram. The results indicated that At 35 DAS, pendimethalin @ 1.5 kg a.i. ha−1 recorded significantly higher viable counts of (52.70, 27.53 and 54.33 cfu g−1) of bacteria, actinomycetes and fungi respectively. Weed free condition/cultural method of weed control recorded higher bacterial, fungal and actinomycetes count at 15 and 35 DAS per gram of soil which was comparable to other treatments. The lowest values for these colonies were observed in the unweeded check. Significantly higher seed yield (1184 kg ha−1) was obtained with season long weed free check compared with the unweeded check. However it was on par with all herbicide treatments involving preemergence application of pendimethalin (1103 kg ha−1), diclosulam (1025 kg ha−1) and handweeding(1083 kgha−1)
