Abstract

Fe deficiency is a widespread nutritional problem in plants growing mainly in high pH and calcareous soils. A green house pot culture experiment was conducted to study the response of groundnut to foliar application of nano iron formulations in a calcareous Vertisol. The experiment was conducted in a complete randomized block design with 11 treatments and three replications. Treatments comprises of foliar application of iron sulphate and various levels of nano-iron oxide at 30 days after sowing. The treatment (T8) which received foliar application of nano iron @ 1000 ppm recorded higher plant height (37.78 cm), number of branches (8.67), number of leaves (119.33) and plant spread of groundnut (41.33 cm) over rest of the treatments. where asthe treatment T10which received nanoiron @ 1500 ppm recorded higher chlorophyll content at all the growth stages.
