Abstract

Field experiment was conducted on Pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan, L. Mill sp.) during Kharif 2013 to find out the bioeffecacy of different microbial and botanical biopesticides against Pigeonpea pod borers i.e. Helicoverpa armigera, Exelastis atomosa, Melanagromyza obtusa and Maruca vitrata. The results showed that lowest percentage of pod damage was recorded in Quinalphos 25 EC which was most effective with 15% followed by Neem oil (300 ppm) and Azadirachtin (10000 ppm) registered 19.83 and 19.89 per cent, respectively. Nomuraea rileyi and Metarhizium anisopliae were found effective in controlling H. armigera, E. atomosa and M. obtusa and recording lowest per cent pod infestation. The maximum Incremental cost benefit ratio was however obtained from the plot treated with Neem oil 300 ppm(1: 12) and Quinalphos (1: 27.7).
