Abstract

The increased public concerns about the potential adverse environmental effects associated with the use of synthetic pesticides prompted search for the practices based on natural resources. Hence research study was designed to investigate adoption of eco-friendly pest management within vegetable growers as second largest pesticides were consumed in vegetables next to cotton with 180 sample respondents. The research was carried out in six talukas of Pune and Kolhapur districts of Western Maharashtra. Adoption index was developed to measure extent of adoption concerning to eco-friendly pest management. The result reveals that majority of the respondents belong to medium level adoption of eco-friendly pest management within vegetable cultivation.
