Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at Department of Agricultural Meteorology farm, College of Agriculture, Pune during kharif, 2013 to evaluate the effect of varietieson yields and harvest index under different sowing times of sesamum. A experiment was conducted in a factorial randomized block design with three replications. Sixteen treatment combinations were formed considering four varieties and four sowing times. A basal dose of 40 kg P2O5 ha1was applied through single super phosphate and 20 kg K2O ha−1 through muriate of potash. However, N dose @ 60 kg ha−1 was applied through urea in two equal split doses at sowing and 30 days after sowing. The grain and straw yields and harvest index were favourably influenced in case of variety AKT-101. Sowing of sesamum during 27th Met.week (2nd July8th July) favourably influenced grain and straw yields and harvest index.
