Effect of Post Harvest Treatments on Bio-Chemical Parameters of Papaya (Carica papaya L.) cv. Madhu Bindu

Papaya (Carica papaya L.) is an important and a very popular fruit crop of the tropical and subtropical areas in the world. The experiment was conducted to study the “Effect of post harvest treatments on ripening and shelf-life of papaya (Carica papaya L.) cv. Madhu Bindu” during July-August, 2013 at P. G. laboratory, Department of Horticulture, B. A. College of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University, Anand (Gujarat). The experiment was framed in Completely Randomized Design with factorial concept replicated thrice with twelve treatments anda control. The fruits stored in boxes found superior with respect to reducing sugar and reduced acidity whereas the treatment combination of CFB boxes + Calcium chloride 2% found superior with respect to TSS, total sugar, reducing sugar, non reducing sugar and ascorbic acid during storage of papaya fruits under ambient room temperature.
