The present investigation has been carried out to study correlation coefficient analysis in new plant type lines of rice (oryza sativa L.) developed at seed breeding farm JNKVV, Jabalpur. Trait associations of sixteen yield attributing traits were studied using 124 NPT lines of rice including four checks i.e. Sahbhagi Dhan, IR-64, Kranti and JRH-8 in a randomized block design with three replications under rainfed condition, during kharif 2012. Correlation analysis indicated highly significant positive correlation between yield and panicle length (cm), plant height (cm), flag leaf length (cm), flag leaf width (cm), branches/panicle, filled grains/panicle, 1000 seed wt. (gm.), seed length (mm), biologic-al yield/plant gm and harvest index %. 1000 grain weight also reported significant positive correlation with seed length, seed width and harvest index. Whereas, the traits days to 50% flowering, filled grains per panicle, L/B ratio showed significant negative correlation with 1000 grain weight. Therefore, selection of these yield attributing traits will lead to yield enhancement.
