Drechslera glycini-A Drechslera Blight Disease of Soybean a New Record in Pantnagar

Leaf blight disease of soybean is caused by Drechslera glycini was first time recorded by Narayanaswami and Durairaj in 1971 considered as a minor disease of soybean. Disesse causes considerable loss in yield under favorable epidemiological conditions. Fungus characterized as, it forms conidia, acrogenously on the conidiophores, conidia posses distinct basal hilum and exhibiting the bipolar germination which considered as the fungus genus Drechslera. Since, the genus is isolated from soybean the fungus is described as a species(glycini) of this genus. In present investigation, the Drechslera glycini was isolated from soybean crop at CRC Pantnagar which showed Similar symptoms and morphological study as described by Narayanaswami and Durairaj in 1971 in his study. This study was first recorded in tarai area of uttarakhand state.
