Effect of Temperature and Relative Humidity on Radial Growth and Sclerotial Production of Rhizoctonia solani Caused Root Rot in French Bean

Abstract

The experiment was conducted to study the effect of temperature and relative humidity on radial growth and production of sclerotia at different temperature and relative humidity. The maximum mycelial growth of Rhizoctonia solani was observed at 35°C, the growth of the fungus in this temperature was 89.94 withmaximum sclerotial production of 70.27 and this was followed by 30°C, the growth of the fungus in this temperature was 89.87 mm with sclerotial production of 69.07. The least fungal growth of the fungus (69.81 mm) was observed at 15°C with least sclerotial production of 32.50. The fungal growth of R. solani was tested at different moisture level of moisture viz., 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100 per cent. The fungus grows better at 80 and 90 per cent RH with maximumgrowth of the fungus was 89.27mm and 89.20mm with the maxiumumsclerotial production i.e., 78.05 and 75.61numbers respectively. The least fungal growth (80.31mm) with least sclerotial (71.29) was observed at the RH of 60 per cent. However, the maximum growth of the fungus was observed at 80 and 90 per cent Relative Humidity.
