In this work a field study was conducted to evaluate the effect of different mulching material on weed growth, physiological characters and vitamin-C content of chilli hybrid sieera from August 2014 to March 2015. Mulch treatments used in the study were black polythene, black on silver, black on white mulch, leaf litter, coir compost, paddy straw, sawdust and bare soil was the control. The organic mulches encouraged weed population which were suppressed under plastic mulches. Mulching produced the fruits with the highest chlorophyll-a, chlorophyll-b and total chlorophyll content and also vitamin-C content.
