Abstract

This study has sought to ascertain respondent's perceptions on problems in adoption of management practices of prevalent insects in groundnut crop, based on sample of 160 respondents from Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh state during the year 2014–15. The study reported that important problems experienced by the respondents were, lack of resistant varieties, lack of knowledge about insects control, complicated method of seed treatment as technical problems, non availability of resistant varieties in timely, non availability of proper insecticide locally as service and supply problems, lack of information regarding control method of insects, lack of contact with extension department as information problems, High cost of insecticides as economical problems, lack of regulated market in the local area or nearby village, wide fluctuation in prices and lack of knowledge about cultural, mechanical, biological methods of insects control as others problems. Majority of the respondents suggested that the skill oriented training programmes should be organized on plant protection measures at village level, most of the respondents suggested that the Government should purchase groundnut produce from farmers like paddy etc., Government should provide resistant varieties seeds at low prices.
