Evaluation of Fungicides Against Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. Inciting Collar Rot of Brinjal (Solanum melongena L.)

Abstract

The experiment was conducted in the Department of Plant Pathology, N. M. College of Agriculture, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari, during 2014–2015 to evaluate different fungicides against Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. Eighteen fungicides at different concentrations were tested, among them five nonsystemic fungicides were evaluated at 1500, 2000 and 2500 ppm, six systemic fungicides evaluated at 250, 500 and 750 ppm and seven combiproducts evaluated at 1000, 1500 and 2000 ppm concentrations using poisoned food technique. Among non-systemic fungicides, mancozeb proved the most effectiveness in suppressing the growth of S. rolfsii Sacc. and gave cent per cent growth inhibition at 1500, 2000 and 2500 ppm. In systemic fungicides, propiconazole and hexaconozole showed complete inhibition of mycelial growth of S. rolfsii at 250, 500 and 750 ppm while azoxystrobin also gave cent per cent inhibition of S. rolfsii Sacc. at 750 ppm concentration. Among combiproducts of fungicides metalaxyl 8% + mancozeb 64%, hexaconazole 4% + zineb 68%, tebuconazole 50% + trifloxystrobin 25% were most effective and gave cent per cent growth inhibition of S. rolfsii Sacc. at 1000, 1500 and 2000 ppm concentrations.
