A field experiment was conducted during the Boro season of 2013–14 on sub-humid sub-tropical lateritic belt of Agricultural farm, Palli Siksha Bhavana (Institute of Agriculture) at Visva-Bharati, Sriniketan, India to test the effect of different weed management practices in Boro rice cultivation. Hand weeding at 20 and 40 DAT resulted in the lowest weed density (no. m−2), dry weight of weeds (g m−2), highest WCE, growth attributes, yield components and productivity of boro rice cultivation. application of Bispyribac sodium @ 25 g a.i./ha at 20 DAT (T1), Bispyribac sodium @ 50 g a.i./ha at 20 DAT (T2) and application of Butachlor @ 1 kg a.i./ha at 3 DAT + hand weeding at 20 DAT (T6) were essential for improving its growth attributes, yield components and productivity due lesser influence of weed infestation in terms of weed population and dry weight. Highest net return and return per rupee invested noticed when weeds were removed by Bispyribac sodium @ 25 g a.i./ha (T1) comparedto all the treatments under study.
