Abstract

Acid lime, one of the important citrus species, it is grown in India for various purposes. The survey was conducted to identify the promising strains or type of acid lime accessions with respect to growth character and yield characters. An appreciable range of variation was noticed in growth characters, viz., the plant height range of variability (2.71–4.66 m) followed by number of primary branches (4.00–8.00), trunk diameter (33.50–45.50 cm) and leaf area (13.36–21.83 sq.cm).A wide range of variability was observed in number of fruits per plant (725–1900) and fruit yield per plant (20.44 to 89.99 kg). Thus, existing variability is prerequisite for crop improvement and hence from this, it is asserted that large variation is available for utilization in acid lime crop improvement.
