Effect of Organic Sources of Nutrients and Biofertilizers on Growth and Yield of Potato

Abstract

The present investigation was carried out at Main Experiment Station, Department of Vegetable Science, Narendra Deva University of Agriculture & Technology, Kumarganj, Faizabad (U.P.), during the year 2013–14 and 2014–15. The seven treatments T1-Crop residue (Control), T2-Crop residue + PSB, T3-Crop residue + PSB + 2.5 tonnes Vermicompost, T4-Crop residue + Azotobacter + 2.5 tonnes Vermicompost, T5-Crop residue + Azotobacter + 10 tonnes FYM, T6-Crop residue + PSB 10 tonnes FYM, T7-Crop rsidue + Azotobater + PSB + 2.5 tonnes Vermicompost, were evaluated in Randomized Block Design with four replications. The observation on various parameter viz. emergence percentage (94.40 & 94.60), number of haulms per plant (6.20 & 6.50), plant height (73.20 & 76.90), dry weight of plant (28.23 & 28.50) number of leaves per plant (51.80 & 52.80), yield (347.66 & 376.90) quintals per hectare during 2013–14 and 2014–15, respectively, were noted maximum with the application of crop residue + Azotobater + PSB + 2.5 tonnes Vermicompost. The experimental findings further revealed that the treatment T7-Crop residue + Azotobater + PSB + 2.5 tonnes Vermicompost showed better response on plant growth, yield attributes and quality. However, the maximum yield 347.66 and 376.90 quintals per hectare was obtained with the application of Crop residue + Azotobater + PSB + 2.5 tonnes vermicompost, followed by T4-Crop residue + Azotobacter + 2.5 tonnes Vermicompost during 2013–14 and 2014–15, respectively. The maximum dry matter percent and specific gravity was also recorded in same treatment.
