Abstract

In the present investigation, 41 newly developed cms lines were crossed with one restorer and evaluated for their per se performance over two standard checks viz., Hybrid CO2 and Sunbred 275 for yield and yield attributing traits. The hybrids viz., CSFH 14084, CSFH 14072, CSFH 14067, CSFH 14091, CSFH 14077, CSFH 14090, CSFH 14076, CSFH 14089 and CSFH 14083 recorded significantly desirable mean performance for seed yield and days to 50% flowering over the checks. Hence these hybridsmay be promoted to large scale trial to assess the superiority. The cms lines involved in these hybrids are considered as potential hybrids for heterosis breeding programme and named as COSF 8A to COSF 16A. These cms line can be utilized in heterosis breeding programme to develop high yielding hybrids.
