Role of Social and Economical Characteristics of Farmers in Adopting Greenhouse Technology

Greenhouse technology, one among the promising technology, which ensures year round production and stability in production even in monsoon vagaries. It is necessary to know the characteristics of farmers who adopt greenhouse technology for motivating other farmers to adopt the promising technology. Therefore present study was undertaken with the objective to study Role of Social and Economical Characteristics of Farmers in adopting Greenhouse Technology. Five talukas of Anand District viz., Anand, Borsad, Petlad, Khambhat and Sojitra, was selected purposively looking to the more number of respondent who adopted greenhouse technology. The data were collected from each respondent through personal interview method with the help of structured schedule. The social characteristics selected for the present study are social participation, occupation and time lag in adoption. The economic chararcteristics considered for the study are Land holding, Size of greenhouse and Annual income of the farmers.
