Abstract

Estimates of variability, heritability, genetic advance, correlation and path analysis were carried out in mutant white ponni rice for seven characters. The highest genotypic and phenotypic coefficient of variation for plant height. High heritability was observed for days to fifty percent flowering and plant height. High genetic advance as percent of mean were observed plant height. Grain yield per plant exhibited high significant and positive genotypic correlation with filled grains per panicle. Path analysis showed maximum positive direct effects on filled grains per panicle and 1000 grain weight. Hence, the selection based on these traits could be more effective in rice.
