Study on Habitat Ecology and Burrow Structure of Mus booduga in Groundnut

Abstract

The Common Indian field mouse is one of the most dreaded vertebrate pests of Groundnut. The study on habitat burrow ecology of M. booduga in groundnut was carried out during both during Kharif and summer of 2012–13 in groundnut crop at Thagachuguppey village, Magadi Taluk of Ramanagara District of Karnataka state. The study indicated that mean diameters of burrow opening of M. booduga, was 2.32±0.29 cm andthat of side tunnels was 2.53±0.20cm. The maximum depth of the burrow was 89cm and total lengthwas 129cm for M. booduga species.
