Abstract

A Pot experiment was conducted with twelve promising cowpea genotypes to elucidate the response of different cowpea genotypes to different methods of zinc fertilization. Soil application of 2.5 mg Zn kg−1 soil and conjoint use of soil application of 2.5 mg Zn kg−1 soil with foliar application of Zn increased the average seed yield significantly by 63.4% and 55.8% over no application of Zn, respectively. Genotypes V1, V2, V3, V4 and V7 showed significant increase in seed yield toward the soil application of 2.5 mg Zn kg−1 over no application of Zn while conjoint use of soil application with foliar application was found more effective in V5, V10, V11 and V12. Soil application of 2.5 mg Zn kg−1soil and conjoint use of soil application of 2.5 mg Zn kg−1 soil with foliar application of Zn increased the average straw yield by 23.9% and 23.6%, plant height by 8.5% and 3.8% and thousand seed weight by 27.4% and 36.1%, respectively.
