Development of a Set of Multiplex PCR Assays for DNA Barcoding of Medicinal Plants

DNA barcoding utilizes species-specific DNA sequence information for specimen identification. During the present investigation, we used Barcodetagged PCR primers for multiplex amplification. Different combinations of primers were evaluated to amplify same templates in a single reaction. Four primer combinations were successfully amplified amplicons of desired size. This will be an economical approach for DNA barcoding of medicinal plants.
