The perception of maternal and child health-care practice in tribal areas remained largely unsuccessful due to their prevailing beliefs and practices towards the modern health system. The paper investigates maternal and child healthcare during pregnancy, antenatal checkups, antenatal advices, reasons for not receiving antenatal checkups, place of delivery and assistance during delivery and also the post-natal healthcare of the mother as well as the baby of Hakkipikki and Iruliga tribal mothers.
