Abstract

During the 1960s and onwards, a number of prehistoric sites have been discovered in West Bengal. In the present study, we have made an exploration at the Kangshabati river valley, Dulung river valley, Tarafeni river valley and at the extension of the Dalma range at Bhagabandh in Midnapore district and studied the geomorphology and stratigraphic features. The cultural evidence comprises handaxe, side scrapper and point. All the tools were made on quartzite. However, more systematic study is necessary for approximate understanding of prehistoric archaeology of this region.
