A study on the juvenile delinquents: Emotional maturity and association with crime level in special reference to Allahabad District of U.P.

Abstract

The study was conducted from the juvenile justice home situated at Allahabad. 60 juvenile respondents were selected purposively. The data was collected by using personal interview method. The collected data was tabulated, analysed and interpreted with the help of appropriate statistical tools. It was found out that majority of the respondent's family belonged to other backward caste and schedule caste. The majority of the families had low annual income. Most of the families were illiterate and juveniles had low levels of education upto primary schools. The maximum number of respondents belonged to joint families. Most of the families were not involved in mal practices. Most of juveniles did not have previous police arrest records. The respondents were selected by purposive sampling for the study of 60 juvenile delinquents. The descriptive research design has been used for this study. The approach is mostly directed towards identifying the various characteristics of the research problems and to create observations conducive to further research. It was concluded that as emotional maturity increases, there will be simultaneous reduction in the level of crime.
