Abstract

This paper explores the possible linkage between the migration and development with special focus to Lucknow city of Uttar Pradesh, where I have done my field work on migrants of HAL (Hindustan Aeroneutics Linited) of Lucknow city. The significance of the paper lies in its methodological objectivity to evaluate the extent to which inter-district or inter-state migration benefits migrants when compared with their past life when they were not migrants of the city like Lucknow. It brings out a proposition that migration is not only improving the individual economic status but also the remittances sent by the migrants also open the road for the rural development. And the duration of migration serves positively in terms of all round development.
