Cultural profile of hill korwa

Abstract

Abujmadia have been identified as Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs). Pahari Korwa mainly resides in Jashpur, Sarguja, Balrampur and Korba district of Chhattisgarh, with a population of 129, 429. They have been identified as a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group because of their isolated living in hilly and forest areas. Pahari Korwa living in Bagicha Block of Jashpur district has been selected for the study. The Pandrapath and Kamaria panchayats of Bagicha Block have been chosen based on purposive sampling. The selected panchayats are covered with forest and dominated by Pahari Korwa. The present study describes the cultural profile of Pahari Korwa. Anthropological tools such as observation, interview guide, group discussion and audio-videography have been used in the ethnographic study. The study focuses on in-depth the ethnographic description of Pahari Korwa.
