Abstract

The present is based on the fieldwork conducted in the area ‘Lakhamandal’ a place situated in Jaunsar Babhar area of Chakrata Tahsil in Dehradun district, Uttarakhand. It compiles ethnographic accounts folk lores, tales and legends in accordance with to conclude that the Lakhamandal was not only the ancient centre of Hindu Shrines, temples but also a core of central Himalayan art and culture.
