Dermatoglyphics is a science of fine elevated ridges, which are found on both palmar and plantar surface. Whole body of human beings is covered by skin, but here no special patterns are found like those on palmar and plantar surfaces. Only four main divisions of finger print patterns i.e. Arch, Loop, Whorl and Composite are found all over the world. It is seen that the frequency of these patterns are different in different populations or caste groups. Castes can be classified according to the frequency or these patterns. The present paper is based on the comparative dermatoglyphic study of ridge pattern of Kurmis of two districts of the state of Uttar Pradesh viz Lucknow and Jaunpur in India.
