Abstract

The present paper is based upon the field work conducted in Daman island where 200 persons(100 males and 100 females) of the macchi community were tested for PTC(phenyl thio carbamide)Taste sensitivity and Colour blindness.It is noted understudy that the taster gene (TT,Tt) is prevalent relatively in both the sexes of the community. However, occurrence of mean threshold value demonstrate a slight variation bisexually aswell in chewers/non chewers and smokers/non smokers. As for colourblindness is concerned, it's frequency is low and the cases are observed for mild deutan only.
